Soi Dog Foundation, based in Phuket, Thailand, is the largest dog sanctuary in Asia.
Beyond providing shelter, Soi Dog leads large-scale spay and neuter, vaccination, and medical care programs for stray dogs and cats. Their CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, and Return) program is the largest of its kind in the world, addressing the root causes of overpopulation while improving animal welfare at a community level. During my visit, I was struck by the dedication of the staff and the care with which the sanctuary is run: its facilities structured, clean, and thoughtfully designed spaces. For animals unable to safely return to the streets, the sanctuary becomes a permanent home, offering long-term care, stability, and dignity.
